Refund policy

At Tomfoolery Wood Co, our products are custom-made by hand, only after you’ve had time to completely review the specifications and materials selected. Since every item is unique, we don’t have the ability to simply add it back to inventory and resell it to another customer like big box retailers. As such, orders are not eligible for standard returns or refunds. We also do not accept returns or refunds for gift cards.

Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues

Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

European Union 14 day cooling off period

Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. Your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unused, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

Refunds & Cancellations

Every Tomfoolery item is handmade to order, which means production begins specifically for you after you've paid your full deposit. 

Refunds for Cancellations before production starts

In most cases, we can offer refunds for cancellations after you’ve placed your initial deposit but before we’ve procured materials or begun production on your order. Your initial deposit is used to hold your place in our queue, but we understand that things can come up, and you may need to cancel your order. If that’s the case, and you’ve paid your deposit, but we haven’t yet procured materials or incurred any costs associated with your order, we can typically offer you a full refund of your deposit. 

Refunds for cancellations after production starts

As we approach the production date of your order in our queue, we will request any remaining deposit balance before moving forward. Shortly after receiving your full deposit, we’ll begin production! At this point, refunds are difficult, so if you cancel your order while we’re actively working on your project, and any refunds will be limited to the unused portion of your deposit, if applicable. 

Refunds after your order is complete

After your order is completed, refunds are not offered. Please inspect your order as soon as possible after receiving it, and contact us immediately at info@tomfoolerywood.com with any concerns. Please take pictures to show us the damage so that we can try to help troubleshoot possible solutions. If a partial financial refund is offered to help remedy the issue, please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.

If more than 15 business days have passed since we’ve approved your partial refund, please contact us at info@tomfoolerywood.com.

We want you to love your Tomfoolery piece as much as we loved making it. If something isn’t quite right, we’ll always do our best to help, but we want to make sure that you're aware that we craft everything by hand from natural wood. Real wood varies in how it looks and reacts to its environment - it's what makes it so great. But environmental conditions like temperature, humidity, and light exposure, can impact your piece, its color, and potentially cracking or bowing, and these are conditions for which we can’t control, and they’re not refundable.

Alterations

Every Tomfoolery item is handmade to order, which means production begins specifically for you after you've paid your full deposit. Because of this, changes or alterations are only possible within a very short window after purchase.

If you need to request an alteration to your order, please contact us right away at info@tomfoolerywood.com.

  • If an alteration is possible, a 25–50% alteration fee will apply depending on the scope of changes.
  • Once an order enters production, we cannot guarantee that alterations can be approved.

Shipping & Delivery

We partner with professional freight brokers, which may include white-glove delivery options to ensure your furniture arrives safely.

Please note:

  • All shipping and delivery fees are non-refundable.
  • If your delivery is delayed, rerouted, or impacted by carrier logistics, we will assist in resolving the issue, but carrier fees cannot be refunded.
  • If your piece arrives with shipping damage, you must notify us within 48 hours with photos so we can initiate a carrier claim and replacement process.

We highly recommend procuring shipping insurance to help cover any costs that may be required due to items getting damaged during transit.

Missing or Misdelivered Orders

If your tracking shows as delivered but you can’t locate your order, please contact us at info@tomfoolerywood.com within 5 days of the delivery confirmation so we can start a trace with the carrier.

We do not provide monetary refunds for lost or misdelivered orders; instead, we will work with the carrier to issue a replacement if applicable.
